One of the most deadly characters in A Game of Thrones was also one of the shortest. While the book Arya was short at first but she later grew taller. The same thing happened in the show but not to the same extent. Child actors rarely grow into tall adults anyway - child actors are very often small for their age. It allows them to play even younger characters, therefore they often grow into short adults.
