"Everybody has to know for themselves what they're capable of."
~ Daniel Day-Lewis
Daniel Day-Lewis is an actor who likes to take things to perfection. While we admire perfection in things, we have better sense than to actually practice it or recommend to anyone practice it to an extreme like Mr. Day-Lewis.
Daniel Day-Lewis is unlike any other actor (or person) in this though -- he likes to take things to an extreme. Consequently, he has a paid a pretty big price for it too. Do you know that he was actually offered the role of Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy?
He turned down the role multiple times because he was already committed to a different movie and he likes to do one thing at a time. No actor could have turned that down that role except - you guessed it. Still, perhaps that is what makes Mr. Day-Lewis such an "unreal" actor.
About Daniel Day-Lewis's Real Height
Where height is concerned it seems Mr. Day-Lewis has a perfect (if perfection exists) height for playing kingly characters too. IMDB lists him at 6'1½" - though we didn't actually need this listing to tell us he is this tall.
We have seen enough of him to know it is true -- he looked much taller than a 5'11½" feet tall Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie Gangs of New York. After many more such height comparisons, we think the IMDb listing is near perfect as well.
Truly what a good Aragorn he could have made -- not to take anything from Viggo Mortensen, who was amazing in his own right, but the fan inside us thinks that it was a huge missed opportunity for everyone.
